音のパワー

　映画「あつもの」で平成一二（二〇〇〇）年の毎日映画コンクール助演男優賞を受賞するなど、俳優としても国際的活躍を続けているヨシ笈田は、演出家としても名高い。平成一〇（一九九八）年には、初のオペラ演出にも挑戦している。彼は、南フランスのエクス・アン・プロヴァンス音楽祭でベンジャミン・ブリテンのオペラ「カーリュー・リバー」を演出、聴衆に「魂の底まで貫き通す感動」を与えたという。
音楽ジャーナリストの下田季美子氏のレポートによると、笈田はまず、無名の若い歌手たちを起用、無国籍的な舞台を設定し、文化的背景の異なる歌手たちに「音のパワー」について多く語った。笈田は言霊に興味を持ち、真言密教の声明、念仏、神道の祝詞などで体験されるような音による精神世界への到達をもくろんだのである。下田氏は、笈田の試みを「日本的な精神性をヨーロッパの文化的土壌の中で普遍化した」ものだともいう（１）。この事実は、音のパワーが、民族、宗教を超えて普遍的な感動を与えることを示しているのではなかろうか。 続きを読む 「音のパワー」─田中逸平の仏教感 →

　「誠実、公平、相互扶助を重視し、利子を認めない」。在来金融の常識を破るイスラーム金融に将来はあるか！？

投機とイスラーム
イスラーム銀行とは、欧米先進国の経済学に則った銀行と異なり、イスラームの経済思想に基づいて運営される銀行のこと。
イスラームが独特の経済思想を持っていることは良く知られている。誠実、公平、相互扶助が重んじらるイスラームでは、リバー（利子）が禁じられ、ズルム（不平等）をなくす努力をすべきことを期待されている。貧者の救済のために、ザカート（義務としての喜捨）が義務づけられ、サダカート（自発的な喜捨）が奨励されている。
ムスリムが行うラマダン（断食）の背景は単純ではないが、「貧しくて食べるに事欠く人々の気持ちを分かち合う」ことが意図されているともいわれる。ラマダン中には、バクシーシ（チップ）もはずむし、断食明けのお祭りではザカートを配って歩くことになっている。

拓殖大学の提携校
2001年6月、私はマレーシア国際イスラーム大学（ＩＩＵＭ）を訪れた。クアラルンプール市街地を抜け、北に向かって約20分車を走らせると、ゴンバック地区に着く。豊かな自然の残るこの地区は、ほとんどがマレー系住民の居住区である。この地区に、イスラーム教育の拠点ＩＩＵＭのメイン・キャンパスはある。敷地面積287ヘクタールという規模の大きさに、まず驚いた。
車でキャンパス全体を見て回った。校舎は、男女別になっており、立派な総合競技場も設けられている。どの校舎の屋根も薄いブルーを基調とした落ち着いた色で、本館校舎に併設されたモスクからは、ひときわ厳かな雰囲気が伝わってくる。 続きを読む マレーシア国際イスラーム大学 →

　1998年12月、クアラルンプールのレイクガーデンにマレーシア・イスラーム美術博物館（Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia＝ＩＡＭＭ）がオープンした。

THE GOLD DINAR CONVENTION（DEWAN TUN HUSSEIN ONN PUTRA WORLD TRADE CENTRE, KUALA LUMPUR／2003年７月１日）

It is a pleasure to be here today to deliver the
keynote address at this Convention on gold as an
alternative to the traditional methods of trade
financing. Trade can only flourish if the value of
the goods can be easily assessed and paid for in money
or tokens that can be equally easily valued. Otherwise
only the exchange of goods, i.e. barter can enable
trade between different countries to be carried out.
Obviously barter trade is inconvenient as it involves
each party trying to value the goods of the other party
to determine whether he is getting a fair price, when
translated into his own currency and what his market
