投機とイスラーム
イスラーム銀行とは、欧米先進国の経済学に則った銀行と異なり、イスラームの経済思想に基づいて運営される銀行のこと。
イスラームが独特の経済思想を持っていることは良く知られている。誠実、公平、相互扶助が重んじらるイスラームでは、リバー（利子）が禁じられ、ズルム（不平等）をなくす努力をすべきことを期待されている。貧者の救済のために、ザカート（義務としての喜捨）が義務づけられ、サダカート（自発的な喜捨）が奨励されている。
ムスリムが行うラマダン（断食）の背景は単純ではないが、「貧しくて食べるに事欠く人々の気持ちを分かち合う」ことが意図されているともいわれる。ラマダン中には、バクシーシ（チップ）もはずむし、断食明けのお祭りではザカートを配って歩くことになっている。

拓殖大学の提携校
2001年6月、私はマレーシア国際イスラーム大学（ＩＩＵＭ）を訪れた。クアラルンプール市街地を抜け、北に向かって約20分車を走らせると、ゴンバック地区に着く。豊かな自然の残るこの地区は、ほとんどがマレー系住民の居住区である。この地区に、イスラーム教育の拠点ＩＩＵＭのメイン・キャンパスはある。敷地面積287ヘクタールという規模の大きさに、まず驚いた。
車でキャンパス全体を見て回った。校舎は、男女別になっており、立派な総合競技場も設けられている。どの校舎の屋根も薄いブルーを基調とした落ち着いた色で、本館校舎に併設されたモスクからは、ひときわ厳かな雰囲気が伝わってくる。 続きを読む マレーシア国際イスラーム大学

1998年12月、クアラルンプールのレイクガーデンにマレーシア・イスラーム美術博物館（Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia＝ＩＡＭＭ）がオープンした。

THE GOLD DINAR CONVENTION（DEWAN TUN HUSSEIN ONN PUTRA WORLD TRADE CENTRE, KUALA LUMPUR／2003年７月１日）
It is a pleasure to be here today to deliver the
keynote address at this Convention on gold as an
alternative to the traditional methods of trade
financing. Trade can only flourish if the value of
the goods can be easily assessed and paid for in money
or tokens that can be equally easily valued. Otherwise
only the exchange of goods, i.e. barter can enable
trade between different countries to be carried out.
Obviously barter trade is inconvenient as it involves
each party trying to value the goods of the other party
to determine whether he is getting a fair price, when
translated into his own currency and what his market

Use Of Gold Dinar Advocated For Trade Between OIC Members
BANGI, Aug 27 (Bernama) — The use of the gold dinar for trade among the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) countries should be seriously considered as earlier advocated by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Gulf Times, Arab nations ’need to revert to gold dinar’ Discuss
A financial expert has called for abolishing the current paper money system and returning to gold currencies instead, saying it was the only way out of the current financial crisis.
